The crazy life of a college student.

So now I'm officially going to college! Yay!!! *Jumps up and down* Actually its a community college and I'm really only going part time but still! I am enjoying myself immensely and finding out just how strong certain opinions of mine really are. Take English for example. Our teacher is starting her first year of teaching at this school, she's young and hasn't really had enough time to work on her own personal teaching methods so she follows the book exactly. We are constantly analyzing different essays and asking questions about what we are reading. Which isn't to bad, in fact its really easy. And maybe that's the problem. Its all so easy! I understand everything without having to try hard at all! So why am I even in this class? German on the other-hand is an entirely different story......

Ode to the Moon.

The sky outside my bedroom window
is black velvet
thrown in folds across the heavens.
With handfuls of glitter
tossed up for stars.
Among them sits the harvest moon,
round and quietly glowing.
Just a huge orange pumpkin
that God placed in the sky.

Picture #1 and #2

The bottom most two pictures were taken on the banks of the Noosack River about two miles away from my house. The very same river that flooded so badly this winter it almost touched the underside of freeway bridge crossing it. Now THAT would be one cool picture.
There are some perks to floods though and one of those is driftwood! My sister and I and some friends of ours had just found this perfectly lovely piece of sun soaked beach and we were just about ready to lay down and get a tan when we came up with a better idea instead. We could build a driftwood house! A huge pile of it was nearby and it was just tempting us to use it. Only a homeschooler would give up a perfectly good sleeping opportunity to haul around bug infested logs..... Why? Because we just had to use our budding architectural skills! But it was fun. While playing in the sand and getting a sunburn that day I felt and was, Huckleberry Finn.

The second picture is later that day, when our brothers showed up. We decided to take action shots jumping off sand dunes. Its hard to describe to someone how much fun that really is unless they have actually done it.

Another summer day, has come and gone away....

I don't have time to post an update right now, so instead I'll post some pictures of just a few of the exciting things that happened to me this summer. Then later I will describe in detail each picture and the story behind it.

Snapshots of the future

A cracked teacup sits on the warped shelf of the old playhouse,
with only a rusty spoon for company.
The trees long to feel once more small, warm arms,
grasping their sturdy trunks,
and to hear the shouts of laughter
that used to echo down from the tips of their lofty green canopy's.
Bikes sit unused in the empty shed
and time has caused a fine layer of dust and cobwebs to settle
on the fishing poles and unused tackle box's
propped against the back corner.
Mothers never need to complain about children
tracking muddy footprints across newly swept floors
or of the bugs and insects
that for some reason keep appearing on a certain brother's pillow.
Houses are no longer being built with window seats anymore
and reading has all but disappeared.
The library shelves are hollow and empty,
names like Peter Rabbit and Huckleberry Finn are forgotten.
Mud pies and swimming in murky ponds are just a thing of the past.
